Destination Outdoor

I designed a multi-page website based on a randomly generated quote.

“Go outside, shut the door”.

Although an abstract concept, this quote inspired me to create a website that would provide an efficient way to gather travel information.

Destination Outdoor

Persona

Thomas

The persona used for this project was Thomas. Overall, the persona who is most likely to depend on Destination Outdoor is unsure of where to seek travel advice as they rarely have time to look into this information.

What Thomas needs in a website:

  • Expertise from trusted travel enthusiasts.

  • Information regarding travel tips, how to prepare, and destinations based on specific interests: hiking, snowboarding, beaches, etc. in one place.

Wireframing

Before creating my designs, it was imperative to decide the user flow throughout the website.

The page featured is a wireframe of the initial landing/home page of the site. In order to further reinforce the reputation of the website, the value proposition is featured in the first grid of the site.

Other pages necessary in order to appeal to the persona, Thomas, were recommended destinations, and travel guidance. This can be best accessed on the main navigation of the site.

UI Design

After creating a wireframe, I designed my final screens using Adobe XD.

My design choices support:

  • An organic visual style through the exploration of natural variations of green, blue, and gray hues.

  • An appeal to my persona, Thomas, who is used to a concise and sleek delivery of information.

  • The user flow. It is extremely simple as one is guided by anchors links on several screens.

  • The website seeks to feature an overview of travel advice through their reputation, variety of destinations, as well as guidance from trusted professionals.
